ESCAPECITY KRAKOW – INTEGRATION INCLUDING FUN AND SIGHTSEEING IN AN UNEXPECTED WAY

Case study: Urban outdoor game showing the beauty of the city, as an team building meeting in Cracow for 70 people from a foreign company Oanda

Client: Oanda – a foreign company also known as a world leader in corporate FX solutions, providing gold standard currency data..

Number of participants: 70 people

Playing time:: more than 2 hours of interactive outdoor game

Language: English

TASK FOR ESCAPECITY TEAM:

Ms. Anna, a representative of Oanda company, asked us to organize a corporate integration meeting for a group of 70 people. In addition, this entertainment was supposed to be combined with getting to know our beautiful and charming city of Cracow. The last key element was that everything should be held in English and the participants should have fun at the same time.

Having strict requirements for the entire event, we decided to focus 3 aspects:

  • Creating a game and space for simultaneous participation of 70 players
  • Selecting places that would introduce the beauty of Krakow and show its living history
  • Adjusting puzzles, so that players do not get bored, but also won’t have a hard time while solving the riddles

INTEGRATION IN CRACOW IN THE FORM OF A CITY GAME – PREPARATION:

LOGISTICS:

This was probably one of the most difficult tasks we faced. We wanted each team to follow the same route, but without interfering with each other. Sounds a bit like an oxymoron, albeit not in our case. After much discussion, we chose the perfect game, route and the puzzles. In addition, we assumed that the teams would start a few minutes after each other to avoid the so-called “traffic jams’ ‘ at the various points with puzzles.

SCENARIO AND PUZZLES:

We chose Krakow Legendsas the game to showcase our city and demonstrate its history in a nutshell. The game was to start off and lead through the picturesque Old Town, and the riddles we prepared were to be tailored to allow our participants to learn previously unknown stories and tales of Krakow. An additional interesting fact was to be the short descriptions of the legends built into the game.

A GREAT CHALLENGE – A CITY GAME THROUGH WONDERFUL CRACOW – IMPLEMENTATION:

Having prepared all the equipment, which were iPads and mysterious boxes with props, thanks needed to solve some puzzles, we went to the agreed meeting place. The whole game started near the Wawel Castle, which showed our players the heritage of the city of Krakow from the very beginning.

The participants got divided into teams, given the right equipment, and then they set off to conquer the world. It might seem that 70 people released at a similar time is a large group, but we made sure that they didn’t feel crowded on the way.

In addition to the necessary gadgets, we also gave our players the opportunity to realize the so-called “lifebelt” at each puzzle. It was leading the participants to be on the right track during the game.

HOW THE CITY GAME AFFECTED LEARNING ABOUT THE CITY AND INTEGRATION OF EMPLOYEES – RESULTS AND SUMMARY:

Gradually, groups of codebreakers streamed into our Gamescape headquarters, fighting to the end for every point. Everyone was determined enough not to let go of a single puzzle. Each team shared their feelings with us, and we enjoyed hearing more and more about how the game went.

We even got a few inquiries whether we could repeat such a game someday, since most of the participants had never encountered something like this before.

Many people compared this type of game to the childhood game of trick-or-treating. In fact, the idea is similar, but in this case, in addition to the classic puzzles, we relied on the use of augmented reality (AR). Such a procedure positively surprised many participants.

Once again, we met with very optimistic feedback and a satisfactory reception of entertainment we have provided. Now that we have conquered this challenge, it feels like there’s nothing we can’t do!

Let’s prepare something together!
