Case Study
Dobczyce, 2020

3 days, 280 students from Primary School No. 2 named after John Paul II, and one goal: getting to know the beautiful town of Dobczyce inside out! That’s where a city game took place that drew in another crowd of participants into the amazing world of augmented reality, gamification and secret agents – in other words, exactly what kids love best. So don’t wait – keep reading!

How It Unfolded – A City Game for Children
It all began at the primary school building. The students split into groups, received the equipment they needed to complete their mission, and then set off to conquer Dobczyce (all, of course, under the watchful eye of their supervisors… meaning… their teachers). Their destination was, naturally, the town’s landmark – a beautiful castle set on a picturesque lake. The kids had to solve various puzzles and enter the correct passwords on an iPad, but that wasn’t all! The game also featured elements of the real world, such as the plaque on the wall of St. John the Baptist’s Church, along with other pieces of the town’s infrastructure.

Personalisation Above All – A City Game in Dobczyce
Yes, once again we went the extra mile with specially dedicated puzzle content. After all, the whole point was for the students to get to know their town better.
The game itself was built on our original secret-agent storyline, but along the way the kids also got to know figures important to the town, such as Marcin Pawlak and Władysław Kowalski. As mentioned above, the game also featured historic landmarks, including ones permanently located in Dobczyce itself. And that’s exactly what gave this game its special dimension!

Our Heroes
But none of this would have happened – or made sense – without the exceptional group for whom the Gamescape team designed and ran this engaging city game. As you already know, it was a large group of young people (almost 300 of them!). We’re incredibly proud of the participants, who bravely solved puzzles and threw themselves into the role of secret agents! And, of course, we can’t forget the people who kept a watchful eye on their charges and made sure not a hair fell out of place during the mission. Dear teachers, you are true professionals! It was these young people – still shaping their own identity – who took part in a game designed to show them their roots. We’re delighted that we were entrusted with such an important task! 😀

In Summary…
- Escape room for kids: — 100%
- Augmented reality: — 100%
- Gripping storyline: — 100%
- Youngest players’ satisfaction: — 100%
A secret-agent mission took place in Dobczyce and ended in success – and we don’t just mean in terms of the storyline. Most importantly, the primary school students learned the history of their town and, with it, their own roots. As we all know, understanding your past builds identity along with a sense of belonging and security.
That sounds pretty great, doesn’t it? Especially when it comes wrapped in a format as engaging as a city game. As always, we’re sure every participant had a fantastic time. 😀Thank you so much for your enthusiasm and for having such a great time with us! We hope we’ll get to spend more time together in the future!
